  • The Alabama Shakespeare Festival is currently accepting applications for part-time/flex-time positions in our Box Office.  In particular, we are looking for folks who are enthusiastic about theatre, comfortable with ticketing software and excellent with customer service.  The position pays minimum wage, but includes some theatre lover perks including tickets to shows!  Primary hours are weekdays 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., with some evenings 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and/or weekends 12p.m to 4 p.m. or 8 p.m.  (You would not be expected to work every night or every weekend.)  Excellent communication skills and computer skills are important, but most importantly you will serve as an ambassador of the art onstage at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.  If interested send a resume or fact sheet to: mdilaura@asf.net.  No Calls Please  EOE M/F/H/

     

    COSTUME CRAFTS ARTISAN-OVERHIRE 

    Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Lort C & D). Montgomery, Alabama, seeks a creative and talented individual to join our team. ASF produces an 8 show season in our impressive, two theatre complex in Montgomery Alabama.  Our 2015-2016 Season includes: The Comedy of Errors, Driving Miss Daisy, A Christmas Carol, Ain’t Misbehavin and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We are looking for highly skilled artisans for various productions during throughout our upcoming season.  The ideal candidate will be one with excellent time management skills, one who is a good collaborator, and also works well independently.  Someone able to understand and interpret Designer’s research and sketches.  A good knowledge of Costume History is a plus.  The ideal candidate will be experienced in working with a variety of materials, for use in the construction and modification of: Armor, hats, jewelry, molds, headdresses, masks, footwear, belts, and all sorts of costume accessories, while exhibiting good safety practices.  Of particular interest is a candidate with strong leather craft as well as painting and dying skills.  The candidate must be experienced in patterning and creating craft mock-ups, and must be an excellent stitcher.  The Artisan answers directly to the Director of Costume Production.  MFA or equivalent professional experience preferred.  Contracts are available for various periods beginning late August 2015 until late July 2016.  Competitive salary, housing and travel are available for this Overhire position.  Send letter, resume and list of references to: Jeffrey Todhunter, Director of Costume Production, ALABAMA SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL, 1 Festival Drive, Montgomery, AL  36117.  Email: jtodhunter@asf.net

     

    WIG MASTER/MAKEUP SUPERVISOR 

    Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Lort C & D). Montgomery, Alabama, seeks a creative and talented individual to join our team. ASF produces an 8 show season in our impressive, two theatre complex in Montgomery Alabama.  Our 2015-2016 Season includes: The Comedy of Errors, Driving Miss Daisy, A Christmas Carol, Ain’t Misbehavin and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  Responsibilities include: purchase, alter or manufacture all wigs, hair styles and facial hair as designed by the Costume Designer.  Candidate must proficient in ventilating.  Facilitate or perform haircuts needed on specific productions.  Maintain the wig/hair stock.  Work with Costume Designer to create/coordinate any special makeup needs for productions.  Supervise a crew of hair assistants, supervise and train wig running crew for rehearsals and performances.  Order hair and makeup supplies as needed.  Create hair maintenance schedule.  Facilitate or perform specialty hair processes as needed.  Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Costume Production or Production Manager. Previous experience as a Wig Master or Theatrical Hair Supervisor and cosmetology license are required.  Competitive salary and housing is provided.  Contract begins August 2015 and runs thru August 2016.     FIRST HAND-FULL TIME SEASONAL 

    Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Lort C & D). Montgomery, Alabama, seeks a creative and talented individual to join our team.  ASF produces an 8 show season in our impressive, two theatre complex in Montgomery Alabama.  Our 2015-2016 Season includes: The Comedy of Errors, Driving Miss Daisy, A Christmas Carol, Ain’t Misbehavin and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Responsibilities include: assisting in the patterning and cutting of costumes, overseeing stitching projects, assist Draper in fittings, assist in alterations and repairs of costumes, supervising stitchers.  Applicants must have excellent pattern making skills and be able to instruct sewing staff to produce costumes of the highest professional standard.  MFA or equivalent professional experience required.  Competitive salary and benefits provided.  Season contracts run September 2015 thru mid July 2016.     COSTUME INTERNSHIP 

    Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Lort C & D). Montgomery, Alabama, seeks a creative and talented individual to join our team. ASF produces an 8 show season in our impressive, two theatre complex in Montgomery Alabama.  Our 2015-2016 Season includes: The Comedy of Errors, Driving Miss Daisy, A Christmas Carol, Ain’t Misbehavin and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.The ideal candidate has completed an undergraduate degree in Technical Theatre with a concentration in Costume Technology/Production.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual who wants to build on their skills.  Working alongside professional Costume Technicians, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist throughout the Costume Department in various areas including the Sewing Studio, Costume Crafts, Wardrobe, Costume Administration, and Hair/Makeup.  A weekly stipend and housing are provided.
