    The Alabama Shakespeare Festival is looking for an Electrics Intern for our 2014-2015 Season. ASF produces an 8-10 show season in 2 theatres, three of which run in repertory.
     


    The successful applicant must have basic demonstrated experience hanging, circuiting, and focusing stage lighting equipment. Previous knowledge of basic electrical theory, wiring, circuiting, soldering, DMX, and operation of computerized lighting control systems is required.


    We need a self-starting individual who is able and willing to work independently at times with minimal supervision. Good communications skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to effectively work as a part of a team is necessary.


    Duties include, but are not limited to: Helping hang each plot, focus, wiring of practicals, some programming (including moving light programming), general board-op duties, helping maintain the integrity of the light plots, and helping maintain the general lighting fixture inventory.


    Recent college graduates as well as prospective graduates looking for internship credits towards their degree are welcome to apply. Some work and experience in other production departments may be possible throughout the year.


    The position start date is September 15th, 2014 and runs through May 24th, 2015. (Please note that as our calendar for next season is finalized, this contract may be extended through Mid-August, 2015.) This position pays a bi-weekly stipend and includes housing. Please note that benefits are NOT provided.

    WIG/MAKEUP ASSISTANT 

     

    Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Lort C&D). Montgomery, Alabama, seeks an experienced WIG/MAKEUP ASSISTANT for our 2014-2015 season.  The candidate must be self-motivated and detail oriented with a positive attitude, be creative, well organized, and able to maintain a clean workspace.  This position reports to the Wig Master.  Duties include but are not limited to: wig construction (ventilating) styling, maintenance as well as some makeup skills.  Assistant will attend technical and dress rehearsals as well as run shows.

    Competitive salary and excellent benefits are provided.  This full-time/seasonal position begins early October 2014 through April 2015 with a possible extension available into August 2015

    WIG/MAKEUP RUN CREW 

     

    Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Lort C&D). Montgomery, Alabama, seeks an experienced individual to serve on our WIG/MAKEUP RUN CREW for our summer 2014 production of Disney’s and Cameron Macintosh’s MARY POPPINS the Musical.  The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and detail oriented with a positive attitude, be creative, well organized, and able to maintain a clean workspace.  This position reports to the Wig Master.  Duties include but are not limited to: wig styling and maintenance, providing assistance in pre-show preparation of actors, hair changes throughout the performance.  Production will include wigs, hair pieces as well as facial hair,

    proficiency if handling this items is required.  Some makeup skills are also needed.  Crew member will attend technical and dress rehearsals as well as run shows.   Typically this production runs eight shows per week.     STITCHERS 

     

    Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Lort C&D). Montgomery, Alabama, seeks STITCHERS for its 2014-2015 Season.  ASF produces an 8 show season in an impressive two theater complex.  Responsibilities include: Construction of theatrical costumes of the highest professional standard.  Including contemporary, period and fantasy garments.  Operation of domestic and industrial sewing machines, including merrow/serger and blind hemmer.  Excellent machine and hand sewing skills required, including, finishing, hemming, trim and fastener application.  BA/BFA or equivalent professional experience preferred.  Competitive salary and benefits are provided. Contract runs early October, 2014 thru mid April 2015 with a possible extension into July.     Scene Shop Department: 

     

    ALABAMA SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL (LORT C) seeks a seasoned and organized individual to lead engineering, construction, load in, remount and strike for a 8 to 10 show season in its two theatre spaces in Montgomery, AL. Only applicants with a minimum of 5 years professional experience in theatrical construction and management will be considered.  MFA preferred, but not required.  Duties include but are not limited to: determining the practicality and cost of set designs; drafting plans in AutoCAD; overseeing the engineering, construction, install and strike of scenery, and management of all inventory and warehouse. Qualified applicants should have proven experience in all aspects of technical theatre including design evaluation and cost analysis, scenic construction, rigging, automation, personnel management, good communication skills, collaborative disposition, Microsoft Office and AutoCAD proficiency, and the ability to multitask within deadlines.  Year-round salaried position with benefits based in Montgomery, AL.
