    Director of Marketing and Communications 

    The Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the state theatre of Alabama, seeks a Director of Marketing and Communications. This position is responsible for but not limited to all marketing activities, media relations, web activities, show related materials, event and season budgeting as well as box office and front of house supervision, with an emphasis on audience development. The DM&C also serves as the point person for operation of the onsite restaurant and bar. Strong supervisory, writing, computer, budgetary, interpersonal and interdepartmental skills are required. Qualifications: a four-year undergraduate degree and with at least five years of marketing and supervisory experience in a theatre environment is preferred. Salary: Competitive with health care and other benefits.

    Located in Montgomery, Alabama, ASF is housed in a 100,000 square foot facility with two stages, the Festival (LORT C) and Octagon (LORT D).  A typical season runs 8-10 plays with a variety of other activities including theatre classes, summer camps, festivals, special events and rentals.

    Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Lort C&D). Montgomery, Alabama, seeks experienced First Hand for its 2013-2014 Season.  ASF produces an 8 show season in an impressive two theatre complex.  Responsibilities include: assisting in the patterning and cutting of costumes, overseeing stitching projects, assist Draper in fittings, assist in alterations and repairs of costumes, supervising stitchers.  Applicants must have excellent pattern making skills and be able to instruct sewing staff to produce costumes of the highest professional standard.  MFA or equivalent professional experience required.  Competitive salary, housing may be available for out of towners..  Season contracts run for various periods beginning early September 2012 thru mid April 2013 plus a possible extension into July.  Please mail or email letter, resume and list of references to:  Jeffrey Todhunter, Director of Costume Production, ALABAMA SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL, 1 Festival Drive, Montgomery, AL  36117.  Email:  


    Scene Shop Department: 


    ALABAMA SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL (LORT C) seeks a seasoned and organized individual to lead engineering, construction, load in, remount and strike for a 8 to 10 show season in its two theatre spaces in Montgomery, AL. Only applicants with a minimum of 5 years professional experience in theatrical construction and management will be considered.  MFA preferred, but not required.  Duties include but are not limited to: determining the practicality and cost of set designs; drafting plans in AutoCAD; overseeing the engineering, construction, install and strike of scenery, and management of all inventory and warehouse. Qualified applicants should have proven experience in all aspects of technical theatre including design evaluation and cost analysis, scenic construction, rigging, automation, personnel management, good communication skills, collaborative disposition, Microsoft Office and AutoCAD proficiency, and the ability to multitask within deadlines.  Year-round salaried position with benefits based in Montgomery, AL.
