In Honor of Veterans’ Day, The Alabama Shakespeare Festival Joins Theatres Across the Country as a Blue Star Theatre, Honoring America’s Military

Special Discounts and Events Available to America’s Men and Women in Uniform

Montgomery, AL -

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival is joining with regional theatres across the nation in celebrating America’s military by participating as a Blue Star Theatre, which offers special discounts and events to active and retired service men and women. ASF has had a long history of working with and providing special pricing for military personnel from Maxwell Air Force Base, Gunter Annex and Fort Rucker.

The Blue Star Theatre program was formalized by the Theatre Communications Group, whose members consist of hundreds of theatres across the nation and around the world.

As a Blue Star Theatre, ASF offers 10% discounts to military personnel on seats after the opening performance. Military personnel purchasing tickets through the Maxwell AFB ITT or Fort Rucker ITR office receive 15% discounts on most tickets.

New to the Blue Star program at ASF is an additional $5 off the first Friday preview performance of each play. The regular preview price is $30. A full price ticket ranges up to $60.

The $25 Friday preview special for military members and their families will begin with A Christmas Carol on Friday, November 23 at 7:30 p.m. and continue with the following performances:

*Macbeth, January 25 at 7:30 p.m.

*Ethel, February 8 at 7:30 p.m.

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival is among the largest Shakespeare theatres in the world. Designated as The State Theatre of Alabama, ASF has been located in Montgomery since 1985 when it moved from Anniston as a result of Mr. and Mrs. Wynton M. Blount’s gift of a performing arts complex set in the 250-acre Wynton M. Blount Cultural Park. This program/project has been made possible by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.                                                          # # #
