Are Children admitted to the theatre?

Babes in arms and children under the age of 6 are not admitted to the theatre. Some Carol Delk Thompson Childrens' Theatre Productions are intended for ages lower than 6 years, and in those cases the appropriate ages will be posted on informational materials about those productions. Please see our brochure and web site for specific age recommendations for each play in our season.

What is the attire for a play?

You should be comfortable as you attend a play at ASF. While no dress code has been established, most of our patrons wear "dress casual" attire, similar to what one would wear for casual dining. You can expect a wide range of formality, however, as ASF is a great choice for topping off a special night out.

How do I reserve the best seats?

For the best selection, become a subscriber today, call the box office at 1-800-841-4ASF. Enjoy the luxury of seeing all of our great shows on your own terms and at great prices. Subscriptions offer free exchanges, up to 25% off additional advance single ticket purchases, 20% off at the gift shop, Swan Cafe and lobby bars, priority renewals, free lost ticket insurance and more!

Can I pick up my tickets the evening of the play?

Please feel free to pick up your tickets the evening/afternoon of your performance at our Box Office. If you purchase your tickets early (at least a week), they may even be sent to you.

Do you offer group discounts?

Yes. Groups of ten or more receive up to 15% off their ticket purchases. Contact Group Sales Manager Stan Thomas at (334) 271-5330 to schedule an event for your group.

Are there discounts for children's tickets?

Yes. Please call the box office at 800.841.4273 for discounted youth and young adult tickets. Babes in arms and children under the ages of 6 are not admitted to the theatre.

Are the actors professional?

Yes. ASF brings in top actors from across the country belonging to Actors' Equity Association, the union for professional actors and stage managers. The actors in the Graduate Acting Company are the only non-Equity performers.

Can I meet the actors/actresses after a play?

Yes! Each Opening Night performance is followed by a dessert reception that the cast and crew are invited to attend. Also, each matinee is followed by a brief question and answer session with two of the actors from the afternoon's performance. This gives you an opportunity to speak with the actors face to face and share your ideas about the show. The actors also become part of the Montgomery community during their time at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and spend their free time at the same restaurants, shopping centers, and movie theatres that you do, so you never know who you'll run into.

Do you offer behind-the-scenes tours?

Yes! Back stage tours are available by request. Please contact the ASF Box Office for more information at 1.800.841.4273.

What do you do with all that scenery when the play is over?

Some of the scenery is available for schools, some is recycled and a few choice pieces go to Shakespeare's Attic, a bi-annual sale of scenery and prop items to the public.

Can I have my special event at ASF?

As both theatres are in performance mode forty-two weeks out of the year, the theatre spaces are seldom available for event rental. However, groups who purchase 20 tickets or more may host a reception at ASF when space is available. To find out more about groups sales with receptions, you may contact the Guest Services Manager Eugenia Ricks at 334.271.5342. You may contact Vonetta Hardy at 334.271.5396 with questions regarding the Shakespeare Gardens or other rental locations around the park.

When is your gift shop open?

The gift shop is open one hour prior to each performance and closes ten minutes after the final performance ends. You may also purchase items from our online store.
