Marlon Bailey (Dramaturge) is an Assistant Professor of Gender Studies & African-American and African Diaspora Studies at Indiana University, Bloomington. He earned his Ph.D. in African Diaspora Studies, with a designated emphasis in Women, Gender and Sexuality in the Department of African-American Studies at the University of California-Berkeley. Marlon's work examines race, gender, sexuality and Black theatre/performance. He has been a professional actor and director for more than ten years, working at professional theatres in Minneapolis, Detroit, D.C., Louisville and San Francisco. His most recent performance was in The Hard Evidence of Existence: A Black Gay Love (Sex) Show at the Thick House in San Francisco. In 1998, Marlon was a guest artist in residence at the National Theatre of Ghana in Accra, Ghana (West Africa). Marlon earned a B.A. in Theatre from Olivet College, an M. F. A. in Acting from West Virginia University, and an M.A. in African American Studies from U.C.-Berkeley. |
